The GT-Air 3 Smart brings next-gen riding with Full HD HUD display,
seamless audio comms, and Shoei’s trusted AIM safety shell.

Shoei has shaken up the helmet world at EICMA with the GT-Air 3 Smart, the first full-face motorcycle helmet with fully integrated augmented reality.
Built in partnership with France’s EyeLights, the Smart edition packs a nano-OLED head-up display directly into the visor assembly, projecting speed, navigation, calls, and radar alerts into the rider’s line of sight.
No external modules, no awkward mounts – everything from the projector to the battery and speakers is hidden under the shell. Backed by Shoei’s ECE 22.06 and DOT-rated AIM composite construction, the GT-Air 3 Smart blends top-tier safety with next-gen tech.
At $1,199, it’s a premium option, but its seamless integration and genuine utility set a new benchmark.

Integrated AR display
The GT-Air 3 Smart’s nano-OLED HUD projects Full HD data directly into the upper field of vision, ensuring riders never look away from the road. Brightness hits an impressive 3,000 nits, keeping everything legible even in harsh sunlight. Speed, turn-by-turn directions, and radar alerts appear at a virtual distance of three meters, reducing distraction and improving response times by over 30%, according to EyeLights.

Seamless hardware integration
EyeLights’ third-gen tech is fully embedded inside the helmet shell. The battery, wiring, projector, speakers, and noise-cancelling microphone remain invisible from the outside, preserving the GT-Air 3’s aerodynamics and clean profile. Despite the added tech, early testers report no compromise to comfort or airflow. A hidden USB-C port allows discreet charging, while the internal structure keeps the helmet balanced on long rides.

Universal intercom system
The built-in comms kit works across all brands, eliminating the need to match mesh systems. Riders can connect in both online (cellular) and offline mesh modes, supporting large groups without range limits in connected mode. The speakers sit flush in ear pockets for balanced audio, while the active noise-cancelling microphone filters wind and engine noise, improving clarity during group rides or phone calls.
Safety and construction
Shoei’s AIM composite shell blends fiberglass and organic fibers for high impact absorption. Multi-density EPS adapts to different crash zones, while new cheek pads reduce pressure points during long use. The helmet meets both DOT and ECE 22.06 standards. By reducing the need to look down at dashboards or phones, the integrated AR system itself adds a crucial safety advantage through faster decision-making.

Ventilation and comfort
Wide intake vents at the chin and crown channel fresh air through carved EPS ducts before exiting via rear exhaust ports. The system helps manage heat and moisture during touring. Inside, Shoei’s 3D Max-Dry liner wicks sweat rapidly while maintaining a snug touring-fit. The drop-down QSV-2 sun visor and Pinlock-ready CNS-1C shield help maintain clear visibility across weather conditions.

Customization and controls
A companion app allows riders to configure the HUD layout, select displayed data, adjust brightness, and manage audio. Siri and Google Assistant support voice commands for hands-free control on the move. Riders can prioritize turn-by-turn directions, mute notifications, or adjust music without touching the helmet. The interface is built to minimize cognitive load, hiding non-essential data during high-speed riding.
