Victoria’s most feared biker clubs face criminal charges for wearing club colors after Attorney-General Sonya Kilkenny banned insignia displays under tough organized crime laws.
Victoria has officially introduced sweeping laws under the Criminal Organization Control Act (COCO) that prohibit members of 13 motorcycle clubs from displaying their colors in public. Individuals caught wearing patches, logos, or insignia face fines of up to $12,210.60, while clubs can be fined up to$61,053.
The ban aims to reduce intimidation and prevent members from openly recruiting or projecting influence in public spaces.
The Targeted Clubs
The ban initially targets 13 Motorcycle Clubs: Hells Angels, Comancheros, Mongols, Bandidos, Finks, and Rebels. Other identified clubs: Gypsy Jokers, Outlaws, Raiders, Red Devils, Six Sixers, Diablos, and Soldados.
Penalties and Enforcement
Victoria Police have been given expanded powers to issue on-the-spot directives and pursue penalties for violating the insignia ban:
- Individuals: Fines up to $12,210.60
- Corporations/Clubs: Fines up to $61,053
