Hollywood Dave: If I’m in an accident and feel okay, should I get checked out anyway?
Rob the Shark: David from my experience as a motorcycle injury attorney, a lot of our body after an accident is under adrenaline. Give it a couple of days to see how you feel. That pain can sneak up on you really quick and when it does, you want to make sure and get checked out right away. The longer you wait, the worst the injuries are going to become and guess what? Insurance companies love when you don’t get check out. Because they’ll turn around and say that you failed to seek medical attention in a timely manner. That’s your own fault and we are not paying for all those injuries. Or your credibility becomes an issue, hey why didn’t you get treatment right away? So, keep a good eye on that even if it’s a slight pain, get it checked out. Have that peace of mind. God forbid it gets worse later. If you have any other questions, give me a call. I’ll be more than happy to take you through it and explain everything from A-Z.
Hollywood Dave: What happens if I am involved in a hit and run?
Rob the Shark: Good question. First of all, if you are involved in a hit and run get the medical care you need and take care of yourself. And then give us a call right after? It’s important that we file a police report. Right? We want to paper trail it. The insurance companies are going to ask you if you filed a police report. We want it to get into it when it’s fresh. When you give us a call, we will take you through the process. We’ll help you put your statement together and make sure everything is as it should be. We will then file a police report for you. Then after that, we will go through the steps of a personal injury case. We’ll set you up with what you need. Medical treatment etc. Our investigators will coordinate with the police in order to find this individual. What happens when this individual is never found? Well you can protect yourself by having Uninsured Motorist coverage on your motorcycle policy. Uninsured Motorist is going to give you the protection that you need. If this individual is not found, it will step in, it will kick in, it will allow you to obtain a recovery the same way it would if there was an individual. If you don’t have Uninsured Motorist check your policy. You have got to have it. Call Peter Kaye the editor of this magazine. He has been in Insurance for over 15 years. He will make sure you are protected. Without Uninsured Motorist coverage you will not have a claim unless you find this individual. A lot of times you can’t. Give us a call with any additional questions and we will be happy to explain to you what happens in an Uninsured Motorist case or if involved in a Hit And Run.
Hollywood Dave: That’s great information. I feel very protected, thanks Rob!
Hollywood Dave: If I’m taken to the hospital, what happens to my bike?
Rob the Shark: If you are taken to the hospital the police department that is involved, will have your bike towed to one of their yards. Generally speaking, if you are in the hospital and you are badly injured, you are not going to have enough time to deal with your motorcycle. Guess what? That bike is incurring storage costs every day; usually $70 to $80 per day. By the time you are out of the hospital you will owe hundreds of dollars. Sometimes thousands. The bike sits around for a period of time and they will place a lien on it to make sure they get paid. If you do not pay the storage, the bike could be lien sold and you will be without a bike. If you are in a hospital and you cannot handle your bike, then you obviously need an attorney. When you call Shark Squad, we are going to be all over that bike. We are going to find out where it is, and we will get our people out there or your insurance company or the other person’s insurance company to get it out of the impound yard. They’re going to take it to a shop where the storage costs will stop incurring. Your bike will now be protected. We can take your bike to any shop. A shop of your choice. There the insurance adjustor will come and inspect your bike. Your bike will be secured and it will be paid. So, it’s very important, even if you are in the hospital, that your case is moving forward. Give us a call and we will step in and protect your bike. And we will make sure you’re riding again whether it’s your previous bike or a brand-new bike.
Hollywood Dave: Wow! It’s good to know that it’s all going to be taken care of.
Hollywood Dave: Hey Rob, what got you into motorcycles?
Rob the Shark: You know, riding to me is therapy. We all have our daily stresses. When I get on the bike everything just stops, it’s the moment, it’s the wind, it’s the feeling, and it’s the thought process. Why spend money on shrinks when you can ride. That’s the number one therapy, at least in my opinion. The love for motorcycles, the community, the riders, I put one and two together and said to myself “apply your love and passion to what you currently do!” And that’s how Shark Squad started. We took the passion we have for the community and the riders and said let’s give something back. Let’s help the community of riders. Let’s help the riders if God forbid something should happen, they can continue riding. We want to be part of the community, we love the community, we are part of the community, we love going to events, we love to answer questions, we love to help, and we love you guys. Shark Squad is always riding by your side, we love you guys.
Hollywood Dave: Love your passion Rob.
