As we dipped into the mountains of North Carolina, we were greeted with that amazing mountain smell. The visual of the clouds hugging the mountains created such a relaxing peace in our spirits that we knew we were headed in the right direction.
We were on our way to Tennessee, where the next BAT House was in the early stages of being prepared. The home will be a partnership with a local non-profit in the greater Gatlinburg area, and together, we will have a campus that will be on nine acres in the rolling countryside of Eastern Tennessee.
It will be comprised of one large home and then several smaller homes spread out on the property. Each small house will have the equivalent of a bathroom and bedroom, and all the meals will be shared in the larger home overlooking the valley.
The campus will hopefully continue to grow as finances come in, but in the beginning, it will be able to house five to six in a healing space that will encourage hope, healing, and renewal.
Rainey and Doc will be commuting back and forth (yes, this will take a miracle) to oversee the clinical counseling portion of the homes. We will also be building up a presence for BAT in the area of Harley Davidson Dealerships and local Human Trafficking Taskforce groups.
Strangely enough, just 1.5 hours away are some friends who used to be involved in BAT Florida, and our home that we are trying to get established in Virginia (The Danville area) will be about 6 hours away.
All this is on top of the 318 Foster Kids who reside throughout Central Florida and the three houses that we are involved in here as well.
We have always known that the greatest need is “housing,” and the ability to provide housing is growing. We still hope to establish a home in Volusia/Seminole County area, and we know that God’s perfect timing will be involved.
Thanks again for your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. We could not do what we do without your partnership.
Peace,
Doc and Rainey
