The 85th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which took place from August 1-10, 2025, saw a significant increase in vehicle traffic, with a total of 537,459 vehicles entering Sturgis over the 10 days. This represents an 11.3% increase compared to the previous five-year average of 482,987 vehicles.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) released daily traffic counts from nine locations, showing consistent growth each day compared to the average. The busiest day of the rally was Monday, August 4, when 68,906 vehicles entered Sturgis, a 19% increase from the previous five-year average for that day.
Over the course of the event, the patrol recorded a total of 66 injury accidents and 27 non-injury accidents. Four fatalities were included in the final report. Drug-related arrests declined, with 266 misdemeanors and 104 felonies reported. The Sturgis Police Department made 58 DUI arrests, down from 66 last year.

Troopers reported 66 crashes resulting in 4 deaths and 80 injuries, according to the Mitchell Republic.
During the 85th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2025, the Black Hills Harley-Davidson dealership alone sold a record-breaking 722 motorcycles by Thursday evening, with management expecting to exceed 1,000 combined sales from their main location and new vendor tent by the event’s conclusion on Sunday. This indicates that the total number of Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold across all dealerships during the rally was well over 1,000 units.
