The president Paul aka Offroad, the Vice President Matt aka Tinman, Doug aka Floki and Rodger aka Salvaged make up the Officers of the Watchman Christian Motorcycle Club. Having been in the MC world between seven to fifteen years, all the Club’s officers are serious about Watchman MC. Some of the officers started their journey in secular clubs while others have been in prison and while incarcerated came to know Christ in a more intimate level while spending much time studying the Bible.
These four men have been in the highways and the byways, in the mountains and the valleys while experiencing life’s rewards and hardships from marriage and fatherhood to losing a child to being permanently disabled but remained faithful to Christ and their calling. All are faithful church attendees. A biweekly Bible study, meetings, and fellowship keeps the Watchman MC officers grounded and accountable to each other. All four have been riding motorcycles for decades. Offroad and Tinman were raised in the church. Offroad is the senior ordained pastor of Last Disciples church, which is a missionary church that outreaches to bikers. The church services are streamed on social media and shared with some of the local motorcycle clubs, who view them when unable to attend. Floki is an ordained minister that performs weddings and focuses on outreach ministry. The Watchman MC participates in a multi club meeting where they are able to lead prayer almost on a monthly basis. From weddings to vow-renewals for a member of the dominant MC, they are always available to minister to local clubs, and other motorcycle enthusiasts in the area.
Following a one year and a half attempt to bring an established Christian MC into the area they could not get the dominant local MC to approve the colors in Illinois. After looking and praying for a different MC that they felt would be appropriate, they felt God called them to establish their own. Watchman MC was born, as several members had been involved in a local Christian MC that left the area and saw the need in their local motorcycle community. With Christ as their guide, they pushed forward following MC protocol through the dominant MC to have a new Christian MC established and to fly their colors.
Watchman MC was founded with Biblical principles, at forefront included in its name Watchman from Ezekiel 33:7-9 that reads: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so, hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. When I say to the wicked, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. But if you do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so, they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved.”
As you may or may not know, when you are part of a Motorcycle Club – Christian or not – you become family with the other members. So is with the Watchman MC. From taking care of each other’s family and being there for their brothers, to being involved with local communities helping raise funds in various ways to meet the needs of the underserved. The Watchman MC’s mission is to reach bikers and street people by bringing the Lost to the Cross. The Club does that by serving in partnership with local persons of faith, Churches, meetings, and rallies, that present the Good News of Jesus Christ. It’s about true brotherhood truly caring for one another. The Club also hosts a bike blessing every spring and hosted an event recently to raise money and to offer financial assistance to local people that are going through cancer treatment. Also in the spring, Watchman MC is part of multiple motorcyclists in the community that help host a local Easter egg hunt, and bicycle giveaway for underserved youth. On Christmas Day Watchman MC partners with a local church, that helps feed shut ins, underserved elderly in the community and offer a Christmas day meal.
