One of a kind build known as the Pancake. A 1999 Harley 1200 with Stock Harley frame, 4 inch stretch and lowered hardtail made out of .120 wall tubing.
Frame looks like it came from the factory! 8 inch under Springer front end and a Paughco riser. Drag bars with Anderson style hand grips and vintage throttle housing, with internal wiring for 30’s replica High low and starter switches.
The Paughco Sportster horseshoe oil bag has a custom electrical box piggybacked on the rear to conceal electronics and make it look like one piece. The rear fender is off a 30’s Ford Continental kit with custom fender support.
The 2.5 gallon fuel tank has a filled in tunnel and relocated filler neck to a Frisco style position with the Harley Logo script. The Paint is Harley Racing Orange and Black with detailed pinstriping by “Sketch” in Southern California.
21 inch on the front and 16 on the rear with Avon vintage reproduction tires. The Engine is rebuilt with Keith Black pistons, Panhead covers, Paugcho aircleaner on an S&S carb and Vintage Block Harley script Logo clutch and timing cover. The timing cover has been cut to replicate the 60’s flattrack motors and conceals a
Hi-4 electronic ignition.
All electrical wiring is cloth covered with open spark plug caps. The headlight is a bates replica and the rear tailight is a glass beehive trailer light with the license plate grafted on. The seat is from West Eagle and we relocated the ignition switch to a top motor mount.
The above is a short list of things and the details go on forever. It is long and low and mean. It is the perfect combination of new motor/5speed and frame with a vintage look. The bike is just as reliable as a new bike but the looks of a bike produced 40 years ago. It’s fast and a lot of fun to ride. Mid controls make the seat position more forgiving.
This bike gets looks at every stoplight and this magazine’s editor Peter was one of the admirers. As a matter of fact, long before car and motorcycle TV show reality stars pulled people over, this magazine’s editor Peter did the same thing. Stopped next to me at a light he asked me to pullover to look at the bike. Maybe Pete will pull over next to you one day or send him an email with photos of your Ride at: Editor@GraceRiderMag.com.
