BETHANY, Okla. –
Bikers from Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas rallied on Sunday for the newborn daughter of late Mustang High School senior Evan Price, who died in a motorcycle accident on New Year’s Day, just nine days after Ellie Mae was born.
“Everybody driving has to register. It’s $20 person; extra for each passenger. All of that goes to the family, and in this case, it’s all going to Ellie. #TeamEllie is what they’re presenting on that,” said family friend Tony Jennings.
Event organizers reported 367 bikers registered and participated in the 57-mile bike ride, which started at Papa’s Motorcycle Apparel in Bethany.
“To my understanding, there’s people that came from Texas and from Kansas just to be a part of this,” said Danny Franks, Evan’s stepfather.
Price’s family said they are grateful for all the community’s support, even from people they’ve never met, like Tony Morris who is a fellow biker.
“That’s what we’re here for. We’re just here to show support for a fallen rider,” Morris explained.
Dylan Price, Evan’s father, described his son as selfless, loving, and deeply impactful to those around him.
“There’s going to need to be a lot of help in the future to raise Ellie properly and to let her know exactly the kind of man that her father was,” Dylan Price said. “He was funny, very witty, always had something smart to say, and when he walked into a room, his presence was felt.”
Organizers said the event raised over $20,000 for Ellie Mae from this event alone. Her family said she will receive the funds when she turns 18.
If you’d like to support the family, they are still collecting donations for Ellie on the GoFundMe. You can find it here.
